Vienna Faces

Opinion | Martin Huxter | March 2008

Dieter, a writer of, among other things, pig limericks was born in Burgenland and lives in the 6th District of Vienna. He has been known to read his limericks with a pig snout mask on. This is the sixth portrait of Vienna Faces, a series of drawings for The Vienna Review by artist Martin Huxter, prize-winner at the John Moores Exhibition for Painting. Huxter has been living and working as an artist in Vienna since 1994. Faces is Huxter’s response to the people he encounters, and hopes to portray how Vienna is becoming increasingly cosmopolitan. At street level, faces can look very different from the ‘face’ presented by the media.
